Constantin has the last word with Blutzbrüdaz

by Bénédicte Prot

Constantin has the last word with Blutzbrüdaz29/12/2011 - While most distributors are being quite cautious during the Christmas holidays (only five new films are being released in this last week of the year), Constantin (which launched its big Christmas film, Oliver Dieckmann’s When Santa Fell to Earth, at the end of November – see news) is trying to rush in to fill this gap with a modern comedy musical, Blutzbrüdaz.

This film by Özgür Yildirim (Chiko [trailer]) tells the story of two friends, Otis and Eddy (played by Sido and B-Tight), who dream of becoming rappers and prepare a demo. Their success is meteoric, but it threatens their friendship and their values.

Neue Visionen is launching Stian Kristiansen’s Norwegian title I Travel Alone, and Piffl is releasing Spanish director Icíar Bollaín’s superb Even the Rain [trailer, film focus], scripted by Paul Laverty and starring Luis Tosar and Gael García Bernal.

After Blutzbrüdaz, Constantin’s next big releases will be Steffen Haars and Flip Van der Kuil’s Dutch zombie flick New Kids: Nitro [trailer], the follow-up to New Kids Turbo [trailer] (2010), a hit from the Netherlands which proved popular among German audiences (release date: January 5); German title Fünf Freunde (“Five Friends”), an adaptation by Mike Marzuk of the well-known adventures of The Famous Five (release date: January 26); Doris Dörrie’s Bliss (release date: February 23); and Bora Dagtekin’s Turkish For Beginners (release date: March 15).
