Admissions in Switzerland remain stable

The numbers for Swiss cinema admissions in 2011 are out! With more than 15,2 milllion admissions, cinema attendance went up by 0.5% compared to the year before. But 2011 was not a year for novelty. Following the 2010 production logic in Hollywood, from where Switzerland’s top box office hits come year after year, nine of the most seen films nationwide last year were sequels. and Very Bad Trip 2 held the lion’s share, with over 500,000 cinema-goers each.

More surprising perhaps was that four European films managed to make their way up into the Top 20. This was in part due to the success of Untouchable [+see also:

with around 335,000 admissions in just the French-speaking part of the country, where cinema-goers naturally follow French cinema trends.

As for Swiss films, however, the year was not so good with its share in the market barely reaching 4.4%, a fall-back by 1.26% compared to 2010. Nationwide, the grand winner was Der Verdingbub [+see also:
