3D relief to shine at Dimension 3
by Fabien Lemercier
12/03/2012 - Last year Pina 3D [trailer] by Wim Wenders won in the feature film category. Who will win this year? The film festival at the International Forum Dimension 3 is calling out for films for its 6th edition to be held from June 13 to 15 at the gates of Paris, in the Pullman Docks of the Plaine Saint-Denis.
A showcase for images in all their new dimensions, the forum has grown from strength to strength since its creation, each year welcoming more 3D professionals and experts, in all formats and for all phases of production (creation, post-production, distribution, and screening). Building on this success, this year the event has reached marked another milestone with the first 3D Market Place, a market for 3D programmes beside the conferences, workshops, and film festival already organised. To facilitate meetings between producers and distributers or cinema owners looking for 3D films, the forum will feature two half-days for business meetings.
As for film exploitation, France’s future is looking much brighter with regards to screening 3D films as the National Centre for Cinema and the animated image (CNC) has just announced that 71,1% of France’s cinema screen have been digitised, putting France in third place worldwide (after the United States and China) for cinema digitisation.
Distributors, producers, and filmmakers for 3D relief films who wish to take part in the 2012 Dimension 3 forum (in the festival competition and/or in the market) can sign up until April 25 in eight categories: feature film (fiction or documentary), short film, special formats (theme park, museums, Imax...), advertisement /corporate / graphics / videoclip, animation (one shot or series), fiction television (one shot or series), live acquisition (sport, events, concert...), school film.
