Tornatore shoots The Best Offer in Trieste
by Vittoria Scarpa
05/04/2012 - Shooting on the new film by Giuseppe Tornatore, The Best Offer, will start in Trieste on April 30. The film, produced by Paco oting Cinematografica with support from the FVG (Friuli Venezia Giulia) Film Fund, will star Oscar-winning Australian actor Geoffrey Rush (The King’s Speech [trailer, film focus]) and UK’s Jim Sturgess (Across the Universe), and will tell an unusual love story set in Vienna, in the world of auctions, among luxury hotels and fine restaurants.
For Tornatore (Oscar in 1988 for Nuovo Cinema Paradiso) this means a return to Trieste: it was here he shot La sconosciuta [trailer] in 2005, with Xenia Rappoport. Filming will take place over five/six weeks in the region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, it will then move to Vienna and Alto Adige.
For The BestOffer, the Sicilian director will make use of his historical collaborators: Fabio Zamarion on photography, Maurizio Sabatini on screenwriting and the master Ennio Morricone on music.
