Tricky Women is the title of the 2nd International Animation Film Festival for Women, scheduled to take place in Vienna’s Votiv Cinema from 7 –13 March 2003.
Tricky Women is the only event of its kind in the world, dedicated to the work of women directors of animated films. 203 animated films from 20 countries will be screened, and this year’s featured countries are Austria, Japan, South Korea and the Czech Republic.
Films will compete for the following awards: "Tricky Woman Prize of the City of Vienna" (Euros3,650) from the city’s Department for Cultural Affairs; the “Synchro Prize”, that includes Euros1500, and a 3-month scholarship to the ”quartier21” studio-programme.
Films by jurors are presented in a special jury programme, while the largely self-explanatory Young Austrian Animation will highlight the vivacity of this particular sector of Austrian filmmaking.
The festival also includes a variety of multimedia presentations and workshops where spectators can examine animated films both from a theoretical and practical.
