Bradford bets on Europe

- A strand dedicated to 10 new Dutch films and another with 18 Euro-titles at the ninth edition of the British festival from 14-29 March

The 9th Bradford Film Festival (14-29 March) is providing a strong platform for European films with the Eurovisions Strand dedicated to films from the Netherlands, and the New Euro Cinema showcasing a number of new releases from countries ranging from Britain to Slovenia.
This year’s Eurovisions Strand will premiere 10 Dutch films including Zus & Zo by Paula van der Oest, nominated for an Oscar in the best foreign film category this year, Minoes by Vincent Bal (the second-best performer at the Dutch box office in 2002), The Stonecraft by George Sluizer and starring Federico Luppi, and Peter Verhoeff’s hit costume drama, Nynke.
Part of Bradford’s eclectiv programme since its inception in 1995, the New Euro Cinema Strand will screen 18 new European releases including the Special UK preview of Damien O’Donnell’s Heartlands, the Festival winners Open Hearts (Denmark), Intacto (Spain) and Russian Ark [+see also:

(Russia) as well as the UK premieres of three Slovenian films: Guardian Of The Frontier, Blind Spotand Ljubljana) and the Icelandic film Reykjavik Guesthouse.
The BFF will open with Mark Herman’s romantic comedy Hope Springs Hope Springs starring Colin Firth and Minnie Driver, and will close with Terence Ryan’s comedy Puckoon, a UK/German/Irish co-production.
