New Board for RAI

- Journalist & historian Paolo Mieli, head of Rizzoli Publishing, is appointed to the presidency of Italy's state broadcaster

The respective presidents of the Chamber and Senate of the Italian Parliament, Pierferdinando Casini and Marcello Pera today nominated the new Board of Administration of the state broadcaster, RAI. Paolo Mieli, a journalist and historian is to be the new president. He was designated by the Centre-Left Opposition. The other board members include sociologist and editorialist, Francesco Alberoni, currently the president of the National Film School, historian Giorgio Rumi, a Modern History professor at the University of Milan and writer and journalist Marcello Veneziani - all three are also board members of Cinecittà Holding, and Angelo Maria Petroni, the head of the Superior School of Public Administration (ENA).
"I am convinced that these appointments will guarantee a top quality board of administration for RAI, and one that represents all political and cultural areas, as Italian legislation foresees," said Pierferdinando Casini.
