Europe out in force at Dimension 3 awards
by Fabien Lemercier
15/06/2012 - Dimension 3, the event dedicated to the new dimensions of images, came to an end today just outside Paris, at the Docks Pullman in the Plaine Saint-Denis, and the winners of the event’s Festival section were announced. While the Grand Prize went to American film Space Junk 3D by Melissa Butts, European productions swept away practically all the other awards. These included three films from France. The jury fell for La minute du petit écrin by François Vogel, the creativity award went to Strip Tease Volcanique by Régine Cirotteau, and the technical award went to J’adore ça by Sophie Blanvillain.
The United Kingdom won in the animation category with Sherlock Holmes by Ben Smith, and in the category for film school projects with Tuurngate. Germany also did well with a special mention for the feature Vicky and the Treasure of the Gods by Christian Ditter and an award for the documentary Huberbaum by fellow German Jens Monath.
