LevelK launches Planet Re:think at UN summit in Rio and on Facebook

20/06/2012 - Produced by the European Environment Agency and the UN Resource Panel, Danish director Eskil Hardt’s documentary Planet Re:think, about global excess consumption of natural resources, presenting a sustainable economy and a way out of the global financial crisis, was on Sunday (June 17) world-premiered during Rio+20, the UN Summit on Sustainable Development, in Rio de Janeiro.
At the same time, Danish international film boutique LevelK launched the film on Facebook’s Cinecliq, as Managing Director Tine Klint’s first presentation on the global VOD platform. From the keywords of “Re:duce, Re:use, Re:cycle, Re:source”, the Ace & Ace production “should encourage to push the world into a new direction, where the individual thinks more about how we a using our resources,” Hart said.
Filling up her shelves, Klint has purchased Norwegian director Martin Lund’s The Almost Man, which will have its world premiere at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (June 29-July 7). Henrik Rafaelsen and Janne Heltberg Haarseth star in the “humorous drama” about a 35-year-old man who is fooling around as if he were still in his 20s, until life takes a serious turn – his girlfriend becomes pregnant. Ruben Thorkildsen has produced for Ape & Bjørn.
She will also represent Australian director Peter Hewitt’s upcoming Liberty Lane, where Emily Watson, Sandra Oh, Melora Hardin and Nia Vardalos play four women down on their luck who set up a phone-sex company – not an obvious choice for a group containing a 40-year-old virgin and a surburban mom. The film will shoot from this summer with Su Armstrong and Brian Rosen producing for TREE.
For her TV catalogue, she has added Rita, the Danish drama series about a teacher whom the children love but the adults dismiss as uncouth and unpredictable – the role garnered Danish actress Mille Dinesen a Golden Nymph trophy at the Monte Carlo Television Festival. Scripted by Christian Torpe and Marie Østerbye, Rita – which TV2 Denmark has renewed for a second year – was directed by Lars Kaalund and Jannik Johansen, and produced by Karoline Leth and Jesper Morthorst for SF Film Production ApS.
