Germans films head to Moscow

Germans films head to Moscow22/06/2012 - The 34th Moscow International Film Festival (June, 21 – 30) is currently featuring a selection of quality German (co)productions, including the competition title and futuristic thriller Dr. Ketel by Linus de Paoli (produced by dffb and Schattenkante).

Veit Helmer's Baikonur [trailer], as well as the Charlotte Rampling and Gabriel Byrne-starrer I, Anna by Barnaby Southcome (coproduced in Germany by Riva Filmproduktion) and the film-phenomenon Iron Sky [trailer, film focus] by Finnish director and black metal singer Timo Vuorensola (coprod. 27 Films Produktion), will be given gala screenings.

¡Vivan las Antipodas! [trailer] de Victor Kossakovsky (coproduced by majade) has been selected in the 'Free Thought' sidebar, while the 'Atelier' is showing Angelina Maccarone's French/German documentary The Look – Charlotte Rampling [trailer] (TAG/Traum Filmproduktion).

Two quality features were included in the section 'Films Around the World' : Christian Petzold's acclamed Barbara [trailer, film focus] (Schramm Film Koerner & Weber) and Volker Schlöndorff's Calm At Sea (Provobis). In '8 ½ Films', two Cannes competition titles coproduced in Germany are screening : Leos Carax's Holy Motors [trailer, film focus] (Pandora) and Austrian director Uli Seidl's Paradise : Love [trailer] (Tatfilm).

A special section will present a wide overview of '10 Decades of German Cinema' including films by Veit Harlan and Fritz Lang, Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet, Angela Schanelec and Fatih Akin. The 'Lubitsch‘ Touch' sidebar also comprises a few German coproductions.
