A prestigious cast for Yvan le Moine’s Rosenn

by Aurore Engelen

04/07/2012 - Yvan Le Moine is shooting his third feature on the island of Réunion. Rosenn is a new island adventure to star Hande Kodja, Rupert Everett, and Béatrice Dalle

A prestigious cast for Yvan le Moine’s Rosenn

Yvan Le Moine is back in the director’s chair, eight years after the release of his last film, Friday or Another Day (Independent Critics’ Prize in Locarno), an adaptation of Friday, or, The Other Island by Michel Tournier. The director repeats two themes from his previous film in Rosenn: life on an island and the character of an actor whose career is in decline. Rosenn tells the story of a tired actor, who intends to make the most of being on tour in the islands to escape the emotional agitation that complicates his life in Europe. But escaping one’s destiny is not so easy, and when he meets the beautiful, vital, and innocent Rosenn, a young teacher living in the islands, his old demons will soon catch up with him. But Rosenn is not only a romantic portrait, but also a historical film set from the end of the 19th century to just before the First World War.
