La Demora gets Motovun Propeller, Clip wins Bauer Award

02/08/2012 - The most important Croatian international event, which ran Jul 28-Aug 1 for the 14th time in Istrian medieval town of Motovun, featured a 15-strong international competition in which Rodrigo Plá's La Demora [trailer] (Uruguay/Mexico/France) won the Motovun Propeller Award.
Serbian director Maja Miloš's festival hit Clip [trailer, film focus] won the Bauer Award for best film from the countries of the former Yugoslavia in theatrical distribution between June 2011 and June 2012. The winner of the Bauer Award is a result of a two-round voting process, which includes film critics and professionals from each of the countries, and besides Clip, the finalists were Nejc Gazvoda's A Trip from Slovenia and Branko Schmidt's Cannibal Vegetarian from Croatia.
The Bauer Award includes €5,000 in cash and €10,000 in production services from Slovenia's Teleking.
The FIPRESCI Award went to Ruben Ostlund's Play [trailer, film focus], while Dutch director Dan Geesin's Elephant Feet won the short film competition.
This year's honorary Motovun Maverick award, celebrating independence, non-conformity and auteur vision, was presented to British director Terence Davies.
