Online festival: reservations open
by Vittoria Scarpa
21/08/2012 - The virtual movie theatre of the 69th International Venice Film Festival (29th August – 8th September) opens its doors. From the 20th of August it will be possible to reserve the online projections of the 10 feature films and the 13 shorts of the Horizons section.
An absolute novelty for the festival (read the interview with Alberto Barbera), the films can be seen in live streaming throughout the world at the same time as their official screenings at the Lido.
The purpose of this important initiative is to promote debut films, young directors and innovative films that have less visibility. To access the virtual theatre run by Festival Scope (read the interview), you must register on the website and buy a digital ticket for 4.20 euros. For each film, which will only be projected once, there will be 500 available “seats”. Each film will be viewable, in its original version with English subtitles, for 24 hours from 9 P.M. (Italian time) on the day of its official screening in Venice.
It begins on the 30th of August with Gli equilibristi [trailer] by Ivano De Matteo. For the complete screenings program click here.
