Europe dominates final Toronto selections

22/08/2012 - The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF, September 6-16) has announced its last tranche of selections and they feature a variety of European films. TIFF’s Masters programme celebrates the work of Michael Haneke (Amour [trailer, film focus]), Cristian Mungiu (Beyond The Hills [trailer, film focus]), Michael Winterbottom (Everyday), Manoel de Oliveira (Gebo And The Shadow [trailer]), Bernardo Bertolucci (Me And You [trailer]), Olivier Assayas (Something In The Air [trailer, film focus]) and Goran Paskaljevic (When Day Breaks).
TIFF’s Discovery segment features Augustine [trailer] (Alice Winocour, France), Blancanieves (Pablo Berger, Spain/France), Boy Eating the Bird’s Food (Ektoras Lygizos, Greece), Burn It Up (Djassa Lonesome Solo, Ivory Coast/France), Call Girl (Mikael Marcimain, Sweden/Ireland/Norway/Finland), Clip [trailer, film focus] (Maja Milos, Serbia), The Color of the Chameleon (Emil Christov, Bulgaria), The Deflowering of Eva van End (Michiel ten Horn, The Netherlands), Eat Sleep Die [trailer] (Gabriela Pichler, Sweden), The Interval (Leonardo Di Costanzo, Italy), La Sirga [trailer] (William Vega, Colombia/France/Mexico), Nights with Theodore (Sébastien Betbeder, France), Mushrooming (Toomas Hussar, Estonia), Our Little Differences [trailer] (Sylvie Michel, Germany) and Wasteland (Rowan Athale, UK).
European talent expected to attend TIFF include Yvan Attal, Costa-Gavras, Laurent Cantet, Sally Potter, Francois Ozon, Tom Tykwer, Michael Winterbottom, Mike Newell, Margarethe Von Trotta, Goran Paskaljevic, Baltasar Kormákur, Riz Ahmed, Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, Colin Firth, Javier Bardem, Keira Knightley, Mads Mikkelsen, Terence Stamp and Vanessa Redgrave.
