L'innocenza di Clara in the running in Montreal

The only Italian film in competition, L'innocenza di Clara (photo), the second feature film by Toni D'Angelo (Una notte [+see also:

), will be screened as a world premiere tomorrow, Tuesday the 28th of August, at the 36th Montreal World Film Festival - (August 23rd – September 3rd).

The film, produced by 13 Dicembre and funded by theMinistry of Culture (MiBAC), is a film noir that takes place in the marble caves of Carrara and the forests Lunigiana, starring Chiara Conti (photo), Alberto Gimignani, Luca Lionello and Giulio Beranek.

), tells the story of Clara (Conti), a beautiful and restless woman who enters into the life of Maurizio (Gimignani). The two fall in love and get married, but she also becomes a part of Giovanni’s (Lionello’s) life, a friend of Maurizio disturbed by this new presence who is quickly revealed as a dark lady. Tired of the monotone life far from the city, Clara rekindles her flame with an old lover. The discovery of these clandestine meetings by her husband’s friend, who happens to also be attracted to her, sets in motion a series of threats, revenge and crime.
