Film i Väst to co-produce new features by Hirschbiegel and von Trier

Sweden's largest regional film centre, Trollhättan's Film i Väst, which annually co-produces or co-finances between 30-40 Swedish or international features, has joined four new features, including German director German director Oliver Hirschbiegel's Diana and Danish director Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac.

Originally titled Caught in Flight, Diana has Naomi Watts (photo) in the lead as Princess Diana, with Naveen Andrews, Douglas Hodge and Juliet Stevenson. Filming now in Croatia, Mozambique, in and around London, Hirschbiegel (Downfall [+see also:

) concentrates on the last two years of the princess' life – her campaign against land mines and her heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Khan.

Von Trier started his 11-week shoot last week (August 28) in North Rhein-Westphalia, Germany and Flanders, Belgium. For Nymphomaniac, with French actress Charlotte Gainsbourg and Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård in the leads, with Stacy Martin, Shia Labeouf, Jamie Bell and Connie Nielsen.

Film i Väst will also be backing Swedish director Felix Herngren's The Centenarian Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared, an adaption of Swedish author Jonas Jonasson's novel which is in pre-production for Sweden's Nice Novel. Robert Gustafsson will play the lead as a 100-year-old man who disappears from his own birthday party, just as the celebrations are about to begin.

Production chief Jessica Ask has also signed for the 1960s whirlwind romance of Swedish legendary singer Anita Lindblom and hard-hitting boxer Bosse Högberg; Hepp Film-Garagefilm International AB will produce the as-yet untltled feature, which US director Catherine Hardwicke will helm from a script by Peter Birro, beginning on October 15.
