- Destiny Ekaragha’s debut to go on floors soon

Destiny Ekaragha’s feature debut Gone Too Far will commence principal photography in East and South London locations on October 22 and will continue for four weeks. Ekaragha’s short Tight Jeans won kudos at the 2008 London Film Festival. Bola Agbaje has adapted the screenplay from her own play of the same name, which in 2007 won the Laurence Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliated Theatre. The coming-of-age comedy follows two estranged teenage brothers over the course of a single day as they meet for the first time, and struggle to accept each other for who they are.

Gone Too Far is produced by Christopher Granier-Deferre (The Hide) through his outfit Poisson Rouge Pictures and is financed by Poisson Rouge and BFI Film Fund, one of the first BFI-backed productions to be announced since the launch of Film Forever, the BFI’s five-year plan for supporting UK film (news). BFI Senior Executives Lizzie Francke and Chris Collins will oversee the project.

Granier-Deferre said: “We’re thrilled to be making Gone Too Far with the BFI. It is a blisteringly funny, original and exciting representation of Black Britain today, and it is a unique opportunity to portray a vibrant community onscreen in a way that hasn’t been done before.”
