Nordic films in Vienna
Austrian audiences can enjoy 13 Nordic productions from 20-30 March at Vienna’s Urania Cinema.
Organised by the Austria-Nordic Countries Association with the Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish and Icelandic embassies to Austria, the event will open with a Finnish title, Heinahattu Ja Vilttitossu (Hayflower and Quiltshoe) by Kaisa Rastimo. As the title implies, it is a tragedy and is set in Finland prior to the outbreak of WWII. The programme also includes Iceland’s Mavahlatur (The Seagull’s Laughter – 2001) by Agust Gudmundsson, Baenken (The Bank – Denmark 1999) by Per Fly, Norway’s Hamsun (1995/96) by Jan Troell, Sweden’s Juloratoiret (1996) and Familjehemligheter (Family Secrets) by Kjell-Ake Andersson, who will be onhand to discuss the film. The screenings will be complemented by a series of lectures about Scandinavia.
