MiBAC to provide funding for 17 feature films and 18 debut and second films

The Italian commission for cinematography, part of the Italian culture ministry, known as MiBAC, has recognized 17 feature length films and 18 debut and second films as being of cultural interest during the third and last session of 2012, which met last December. The largest funding amount (€1,250,000) has been allocated to Il giovane favoloso, a new project by Mario Martone (Noi credevamo [+see also:

), which will retrace Giacomo Leopardi’s life. Storia mitologica della mia famiglia by Daniele Luchetti (Our Life [+see also:

, awarded in Cannes) was allocated €900,000. The film stars Kim Rossi Stuart, Micaela Ramazzotti and Martina Gedeck. Gabriele Muccino was also among those singled out by MiBAC: the director of Playing for Keeps is set to receive €350,000 for his film Italy in a day, a remake of Life in a Day by Ridley Scott.

Other selected feature films include: Uno per tutti by Mimmo Calopresti (€450,000); La gente che sta bene by Francesco Patierno (€400,000); La prima stella cadente by Giulio Base (€300,000); Adamo @ Adamo.It by Pasquale Squitieri (€250,000); Acqua e zucchero - I colori della vita by Fariborz Kamkari, Torso rewind by Sergio e Federica Martino, Passione sinistra by Marco Ponti and Vino dentro [+see also:

Buongiorno papà by Edoardo Leo, L'ultima ruota del carro by Giovanni Veronesi and Il vedovo di Massimo Venier were also named as being of cultural interest, but were not allocated any funding.

Among the 18 debut and second films financed by the ministry are Il traduttore by Massimo Natale (Martin’s Summer) which is set to receive €200,000; Niente può fermarci by Luigi Cecinelli and Due euro l'ora [+see also:
