Tzvetanka wins regional competition of Zagrebdox
- The ninth Zagrebdox festival wrapped on Sunday with Youlian Tabakov's Tzvetanka receiving the Big Stamp in the regional competition, and Josh Gibson's Kudzu Vine winning the international competition
At the ninth Zagrebdox International Documentary Film Festival (Feb 24-Mar 3), the Bulgarian-Swedish co-production Tzvetanka [+see also:

film profile] by Youlian Tabakov won the Big Stamp in the regional competition. The richly textured film chronicles the 85 years of life of the eponymous Bulgarian woman through all political and social changes in the country.
Two Croatian films, How’s Everyone at Home? by Kaja Šišmanović and The Verdict by Đuro Gavran received special mentions in the category.
In the international competition, the Big Stamp went to the American director Josh Gibson’s short Kudzu Vine. Special mentions were given to Burt Laytons The Imposter [+see also:

The Little Stamp, presented to the best film by an author under 35 years of age went to the Romanian film Turn Off the Lights [+see also:

film profile] by Ivana Mladenović, about a Roma man released from prison after doing time for murder of his girlfriend, his misogynistic persona seemingly unaffected by years of incarceration.
Special mentions in this category went to the Romanian film 24 Buckets, 7 Mice, 18 Years by Marius Iacob and the Polish film Rogalik by Pawel Ziemilski.
The Movies that Matter Award for a film which best promotes human rights was given to Joshua Oppenheimer’s deeply disturbing The Act of Killing [+see also:

film profile] (Denmark/Norway/UK), and the special mention went to the Austrian film Mama Illegal by Ed Moschitz.
The Spanish film Little World by Marcel Barrena won the newly established Best Teen Dox Award, and Amar (all great achievements require time) by Andrew Hintonfrom the UK received a special mention. Another new prize, the Phone Dox Award for the best film shot by mobile phone, went to Deadline/Lifeline by Tomislav Jelinčić from Croatia.
Helena Třeštiková’s Private Universe received the My Generation Award.
The audience award went to the opening film of the festival, Gangster of Love by Croatian director Nebojša Slijepčević.
