The story follows Anita, a beautiful and sensitive sixteen year-old girl who has survived concentration camps as she escapes from a Hungarian orphanage to go and live with her aunt Monika. In order to get to Czechoslovakia, Anita travels with Eli, Monika’s young brother-in-law, who is to bring her to the border. Eli is attracted by the girl’s body and starts harassing her in a cynical and cruel game.

Similarly to Some Day This Pain Will Be Useful to You, the director’s former piece of work (read the news story), Faenza’s latest endeavour will be entirely shot in English and will be set in Budapest, Trieste and Prague. The film received support from the Italian ministry for cultural goods and activities (MiBAC) amounting to €600,000.
