Apulia Film Commission supports seven films

Seven feature length films have been selected by the Apulia Film Commission in the context of the first tranche of 2013 of funding for support of the hospitality industry (Apulia Hospitality Fund), amounting to a total investment of €300,000.  is returning with a story focused on Filippo, a young man who works in an association taking care of land confiscated from the mafia. The film, produced by Lumiere & Co., has obtained €81,228 for 30 days of filming which will entirely take place in Salento.

Also in Salento, but set during the summer of 1975, is La guerra dei cafoni (Classic production) by Davide Barletti and Lorenzo Conte, the men behind Fine pena mai as well as popular documentaries. The two directors will tell a story of war between two gangs: the "signuri" and the "cafuni". The film, which will be filmed over 45 days in between Manduria and the provinces of Taranto and Lecce, has been given €43,550.

The other five projects to have been selected for ERDF funding (European Regional Development Fund) are: Three way week by Bruno Coppola, an Italian English coproduction (Approaching Fish Productions - Inkas Film) which will receive €40,391 for 51 days of filming between Castel del Monte and the Adriatic coast; Noi siamo Francesco by Guendalina Zampagni, the story of Francesco, a student in phocomelic philosophy, his friend Stefano and his love for Maddalena, made complicated by a handicap, produced by Arancia Cinema, it has been allocated €65,535 for 56 days to film in Bari; Nomi e cognomi [+see also:

 by Sebastiano Rizzo (Draka Productions), given €20,132 for 34 days of filming around Giovinazzo, Molfetta and Bari.

Other selections include La voce dei cani by Cosimo Alemà (Panama Film), which tells the story of a robbery by four youngsters in a Southern Italian village, which will get €9,724 for 30 days of work in Specchia, in the province of Lecce; and La terra dei Santi (Lux Vide) by Fernando Muraca,the story of a woman magistrate who investigates a family tied to the ‘ndrangheta (local mafia), which has been allocated €39,440 for 45 days of filming between Deliceto, Foggia and Gallipoli.

The Apulia Hospitality Fund will cover the expenses of the film crews while they work in the region (food and lodging, journeys and travel within the borders of the region). Funding for the second tranche of 2013 (deadline May 31) has been increased to €400,000 (read the news story).
