Alto Adige funds Miniero and Faenza’s new films

- Among the twelve projects selected by BLS – Alto Adige’s Film Fund & Commission, two are German, two Swiss, one Austrian, one from Luxemburg and one Swedish

Luca Miniero (photo) and Roberto Faenza’s new films are among the 12 projects to be supported by BLS - the Alto Adige Film Fund & Commission, within the context of the first call for proposals of 2013. The projects having obtained funding (amounting to a total of €2,507,000) come from a variety of regions. One from Alto Adige itself, four from other Italian regions, two from Germany, two from Switzerland, one from Austria, one from Luxemburg and one from Sweden. Of these projects, nine are to receive funding towards their production and three towards pre-production. Around 150 days of filming are set to take place in Alto Adige.

Luca Miniero’s new comedy Un boss in salotto is being produced by Cattleya and will star Paola CortellesiRocco PapaleoLuca Argentero and Angela Finocchiaro. The comedy follows the adventures of the Coso family, which enjoys a quiet life in Alto Adige, up until uncle Ciro comes up from Naples. Ciro is under house arrest for mafia related crimes and intends on serving his time with the Cosos. The film, which received financial support to the tune of €450,000, will be filmed in Bolzano and its surroundings from mid-April.

Funding towards production costs will also go to Anita B. by Roberto Faenza, produced by Jean Vigo Italia and co-produced by Cinemaundici. The story, written by the director himself, together with Edith Bruck, is set in Hungary in 1945. World War II has just come to a close and Anita, 16, is set to face new challenges, having just survived the concentration camps. The international cast includes Eline PowellRobert Sheehan and Andrea Osvart. Support from BLS will amount to €400,000.

Support in terms of pre-production has been allocated to Zweitland by Michael Kofler, a family drama set in Alto Adige in the 1960s and produced by local company Echo Film GmbH, Of apples and grapes by Juliana Lima Dehne produced by German DRIFE Deyle & Richter Filmproduktion GmbH & Co KG, and HOL-LA-LA-ITI by Veronika Kaserer produced by Viennese Transmitter Film OG.

The next deadlines for funding by BLS for 2013 are May 8 and October 9.
