Tallinn Black Nights festival opens Nordic film library in Estonia

The Nordic Video Library in Estonia - a new online platform presenting Nordic films for educational purposes - has been launched by the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF), the Tallinn Film and Media School and the Nordic Council of Ministers' Office in Estonia.

Initially 36 films will be available, including Swedish directors Roy Andersson's Songs from the Second Floor (2000) and Tomas Alfredson's Let the Right One In [+see also:

"The Nordic countries and Estonia have been culturally very close, but the awareness of Nordic films could be higher. We want to provide recent and older Nordic films for film students, and Nordic language centres in Estonia, explained managing director Berth Sundström, of the Nordic Council of Ministers' office in Estonia.

"The line-up of the library will be updated during the year, and in the future we hope the Nordic film archives will also supply Nordic classics," added festival director Tiina Lokk, of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, which will this year unspool between November 13-18.

"Our online market platform has always focused bringing filmmakers and the technology sector together, so we are really excited to launch this unique project of Nordic films", she concluded. The new initiative was announced as part of the Tallinn-based Baltic Film and Media School's anniversary week.
