Hermann takes the chair, Scherfig joins the board of the European Film College

- 115 students from 29 countries are currently studying film production in the Danish city of Ebeltoft, making more than 220 films during the 8½-month semester

After eight years as chairman of Denmark's European Film College in Ebeltoft, Danish producer Bo Erhardt, of Nimbus Film, has decided to step down, and was replaced by managing director Lars Hermann (photo), of Copenhagen Film Festivals, at last week's general assembly.

A former producer, head of development at the Danish Film Institute and ceo of regional film centre, FilmFyn, Hermann was joined on the board by Danish director Lone Scherfig, executive director Henning Camre, and head of communications Grith Okholm Skaarup. (2009), Scherfig has worked on English-language films - after One Day (2011), she is preparing the adaption of UK playwright Laura Wade's Posh. Former managing director of the Danish Film Institute, Camre is now head of the European Think Tank on Film and Film Policy.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the college was instigated to contribute to the developing of European film production. The advisory committee deciding its programme included Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci, Czech director Milos Forman and Polish director Andrzej Wajda. Principal of the college is Mette Damgaard-Sørensen.
