Filming for Smetto quando voglio, Sydney Sibilia’s directing debut, started yesterday May 6. The film is a modern and politically incorrect comedy set in Rome with Edoardo Leo, Valeria Solarino, Valerio Aprea, Paolo Calabresi and Neri Marcorè.

Seven brilliant brains, with diplomas in the most complex of disciplines, but without a job, have a brilliant idea to beat the(ir own) crisis. Shame though that they will go from being researchers to being sought after.

The film is to be produced by Domenico Procacci for Fandango and by Matteo Rovere’s Ascent Film with Rai Cinema, and was written by Valerio Attanasio, Andrea Garello and Sydney Sibilia. Photography is by Vladan Radovic, editing by Gianni Vezzosi, set by Alessandro Vannucci, costumes by Francesca and Roberta Vecchi, and music by Andrea Farri.

Filming will take place over seven weeks in and around Rome, including the industrial and little known neighbourhoods of Termini, Eur, Ostiense and Torrino.

Before his directing debut, Sydney Sibilia made shorts Iris BluNoemi and Oggi gira così, receiving awards from many Italian and European festivals.
