13/05/2013 - In the line-up, the first feature film by Swiss director Basil Da Cunhato beunveiled in the Directors’ Fortnight and the film 3X3D by Godard, Greenaway and Pêra in the Critics’ Week

film profile] (Até ver a luz) by the Swiss director of Portuguese origin Basil Da Cunha, to be screened in its world premiere during the Directors' Fortnight at the 66th Cannes Film Festival (from May 15th to 26th, 2013), will be sold on the Croisette at the Film Market by the French company Urban Distribution International. This first feature film produced by Box Productions is a contender for the Caméra d’Or. The plot focuses on Sombra, who has just come out of jail and resumes his life as a dealer in the Creole slums of Lisbon. Between the money he is owed but cannot get back and the money he owes, a whimsical iguana, an intrusive young neighbour and a gang leader who begins to have doubts about him, he thinks that maybe life behind bars was not all that bad...   

The team directed by Frédéric Corvez and headed by Eric Schnedecker will also be selling the highly-anticipated movie which will close the Critics' Week: the Portuguese production 3X3D [+see also:

film profile] by Jean-Luc Godard, Peter Greenaway and Edgar Pêra. In the thousand year-old city of Guimarães, the three filmmakers explore 3D, its evolution in the world of cinema and spectators' reactions.

Urban Distribution International will also pursue the pre-sales of Jiao You (ex Diary of a Young Boy) by Taiwanese director Tsaï Ming Lang whose post-production will end in late June (coproduced by the Parisian company JBA), El Mudo by Daniel and Diego Vega (coproduction between Peru, France and Mexico) and Las horas Muertas by Aaron Fernandez (coproduced by Mexico, France and Spain).

It is also worth mentioning among the market screenings: Roa by Andrés Baiz, I’m a Standard Supporter by Belgian director Riton Liebman and the Swiss-French documentary Viramundo by Pierre-Yves Borgeaud.
