film profile] starring Vincent Lindon, Gilles Lellouche and Nadine Labaki has just been sold by Gaumont International to Fox International Productions (FIP) for the US, Germany and Latin America. The film pre-sold to several other territories and will be released in France in early 2014.

The deal negotiated by the French major’s Head of International Sales Cécile Gayet and Shebnem Askin, SVP of Acquisitions at FIP was announced yesterday in Cannes. Currently in post-production, Mea Culpa is the story of two good cops, Franck and Simon who work in tandem. But their lives take a tailspin when Simon causes a tragic car wreck when driving drunk. The film is produced by Jean-Baptiste Dupont and Cyril Colbeau-Justin (LGM) in co-production with Gaumont, which will release the title in France.

Fox’s Askin said: “Fred Cavayé is one of the most talented new directors working today who manages to elevate the thriller genre to a new level with each film. We are excited to work with him on Mea Culpa and we’re looking forward to finding more projects to work together in the future.” Gayet also said: “We are very proud to have Fox International Productions on board Fred’s film and glad that both studios have begun a fruitful relationship.”

Gaumont International had pre-sold the film to other territories including Canada (eOne), Spain (A Contra Corriente), Benelux (UDream), Greece (Odeon), Turkey (Filma), South Korea (Focus & Cie) and Indonesia (PT Amero). Cavayé’s previous film Anything for Her  had been remade by Paul Haggis for the US under the title The Next Three Days.
