Emma in Spain

by

Unusually for an Italian film, Emma sono io (I Am Emma), the directorial feature debut of Francesco Falaschi, encountered both critical and audience acclaim at a number of festivals. This low-budget film starring Cecilia Dazzi (winner of the Anec Award for best newcomer of the year) is about to cross the Italian border and travel to Spain and America.
Emma sono io earned the Tuscan-born Falaschi a David di Donatello nomination for best first film, and was selected for screening in Noche Italiana, the monthly appointment with two new Italian films in Madrid’s Circulo de Bellas Artes, on 28 March. The other film is Vecchie by Daniele Segre.

That is not the end of Emma’s international story, however: Richard Donner, who produced Ladyhawke and The Omen, and US production companies, Seven Arts and Elite, are interested in making an English-language version.
You can judge the Euros1m movie for yourselves when it screens at the Fedic Cinema in Valdarno at the end of April.
