and Dag Johan Haugerud’s I Belong, explained jury chairman, Norwegian producer Bente Erichsen at the press conference in Oslo’s Bristol Hotel.

30 years ago Erichsen took the initiative to instigate the prize, which is presented during the Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund, this year at a TV2 televised ceremony in the Maritim Hall on August 16, hosted by Solveig Kloppen. Named after a Haugesund woman with a disputable reputation, the original Amanda weighed 4.5 kilos, and the first time one of the woman recipients needed help from the presenter, UK actor Sir Roger Moore, to carry it from the stage. Today’s version is only 2.5 kilos.

Six different juries have decided the nominations, and four early winners received their prizes at the press conference: Østin Ommundsen for Best Cinematography(It’s Only Make Believe), Karl Júliusson for Best Stage/Production Design (Kon-Tiki), and Christian Schaanning for Best Sound Design (All That Matters Is Past [+see also:

The People’s Amanda, voted by general audiences, will also be announced. The festival runs from August 15-22.
