Italy’s Master of the Horror genre is currently on the Rome set of his latest film, Il Cartaio, a murder mystery that sees a young detective, played by Stefania Rocca, trying to catch a mysterious killer who contacts his victims on the Internet and then uses the web to taunt the police.
Argento reveals that he is relying on the cat-and-mouse game played out on the Internet for much of this thriller’s tense atmosphere. The cast also includes Liam Cunningham as an English police officer working at the American Embassy in Rome, Claudio Santamaria and Silvio Muccino.
Written by Dario Argento and Franco Ferrini, the English-language Il Cartaio is produced by Claudio and Dario Argento for Opera Film and by Medusa Film who will also distribute this title in October 2003.
