Films and documentaries to hit the road abroad

 Italian cinema as produced by Made in Italy to be discovered around the world, especially in the United States, Latin America, China, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. For the first time, the Italian Ministry for Economic Development has allocated funds to the audiovisual industry to promote Made in Italy products. The project will be carried out by ICE-Agenzia, ANICA and the Luce-Cinecittà institute in collaboration with Doc/it.

For two years, up until the end of 2014, auteur films and documentaries, cinema locations and coproduction projects will tour the world promoted in the same way that is already being done for Italian fashion and food. The project was presented in Rome by Pietro Celi, who directs the branch of the ministry dedicated to internationalisation and the promotion of exchanges, Nicola Borrelli, head of cinema at the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities (MIBAC), Riccardo Monti, head of ICE-Agenzia, Riccardo Tozzi, head of ANICA, Roberto Cicutto, managing director at the Luce-Cinecittà institute and Gerardo Panichi, head of Doc/it. It provides for an initial investment of €800,000 to which an extra €300,000 will be added by ICE, already an investor in the sector, which will take care of further support needs.  

Specifically, the project is aimed at supporting films coming out in cinemas in Latin America and the Far East; the Made in Italy road show will hit Russia, China, and Latin America; distribution support for Italian films in the United States; actions to support the export of documentaries; Words on Screen. New Italian Literature into Film, meetings with Italian and international producers, writers and editors.
