The selection commission will meet on September 25 in order to decide on which Italian candidate to send to the Oscars. They will meet at the Anica headquarters, which will be acting as representative of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. The commission is made up of Nicola Borrelli (director of MiBAC); producer Martha Capello (president of AGPC – the association of young cinema producers); director Liliana Cavani; producer Tilde Corsi; Caterina D'amico (who presides over Italy’s Cinema Experimental Centre Foundation); reporter Piera Detassis; producer and distributor Andrea Occhipinti; Barbara Salabé (distributor) and actor Giulio Scarpati (president of the Italian actors’ union).

The announcement of the five foreign selected films to run at the next Oscars edition will be announced on January 16, 2014, while the award ceremony of the 86th Academy Awards will take place on March 2, 2014.
