30/09/2013 - After romantic comedy Love Building became the most popular independent film ever released in Romania, a sequel is in the works

film profile]), Love Building 2 is in development, with plans for shooting next spring. “The idea of a sequel came naturally after the first film's success”, said Bucur, who is going to produce through his acting school and production company Actoriedefilm.

film profile] was released on September 13 and sold almost 20,000 tickets in only two weeks, becoming the most popular independent release ever and one of the few profitable domestic releases in 2013.

Bucur (photo – right) will produce together with the other two Actoriedefilm founders Alexandru Papadopol (photo – centre) and Dorian Boguta (photo – left), and plans to use the same formula for the sequel, with Iulia Rugina expected to come back as director and screenwriter and Ana Agopian and Oana Rasuceanu as screenwriters.

Besides Actoriedefilm, there are two co-producers involved, Zbang Film and Papaya Advertising. Dragos Bucur told Cineuropa that the sequel will be an independent production, with no funds from the National Film Center.

Planned as a graduation short film, Love Building was later changed into a feature, with all the acting school graduates having a small part in the project that explored the tribulations of several couples in a relationship camp. The sequel will use the same concept, “but with fewer couples,” says Bucur, adding that Love Building 2 may feature some guest stars.
