24/10/2013 - The greatest international festival in Austria begins tonight with the screening of the Coen Brothers’ latest film

With 300 films and over 150 renowned guests, the Viennale starts its second half century in style. The 51^st edition of the event (October 24 – November 6) will open tonight with the screening of the new film by the Coen Brothers, Inside Llewyn Davis, Grand Prix of the jury in Cannes.

Amongst the special sections, it is worth mentioning the ethnographic programme, the selection "The Raw and the Boiled", the focus on Filipino filmmaker John Torres, and the two-part event on two great cinematographic sagas by Jacques Rivette (Out 1 – Noli me tangere, 769 minutes, accompanied by cult actor Jean-Pierre Léaud) and Louis Feuillade (Tih-Minh, episodes 1 to 12). Vienna also pays tribute to Spanish filmmaker Gonzalo Garcia-Pelayo who, in between his musical productions, radio shows, games of chance and corridas, also directed five films, all on the programme. Finally, Jerry Lewis’ fans will be able to rediscover his work through a vast retrospective.
