- Ole Bornedal's latest film is released today in France and the pan-European co-production will compete against Richard Berry's archetypal French film that's out on 250 screens nationwide

Dina versus Caesar

European co-productions are consolidating their position as the way ahead for the film industry in general, as demonstrated by the French release of Norwegian feature, Dina [+see also:

. The film was made with money from France’s Mandarin Films, Denmark’s Nordisk Film Production, Norway’s Northern Lights and Germany’s Gemini Filmproduktion and ApolloMedia.
Sweden’s Felicia Films and French broadcaster TF1 International also contributed, as did Eurimages (to the tune of Euros763,000) as part of their co-production funding scheme.

This English-language film also has a strong pan-European cast that includes Norway’s Marie Bonnevie (Insomnia), France’s Gérard Depardieu and the UK’s Christopher Ecclestone (The Others, Elizabeth and Jude). This eclectic mix increased the film’s press coverage even if the film failed to outperform the week’s other major release, Moi César, 10 ans 1/2, 1,39 m, the second feature by Richard Berry that was produced and distributed onto 250 screens by Europa Distribution.
