, has caused an authentic feeding frenzy amongst the massed ranks of the French press. Hardly surprising if one considers the calibre of the cast: Isabelle Adjani, Gérard Depardieu, Virginie Ledoyen and Yvan Attal. Rappeneau, one of France’s best known directors has been absent from the filmmaking panorama since his 1995 The Hussar on the Roof starring Juliette Binoche was seen by 2.4 million French filmgoers.
Rappeneau has made seven films during his 37-year career: La vie de château in 1996 with Catherine Deneuve and Philippe Noiret (1.7 million tickets sold), Les mariés de l’an II in 1971 with Jean-Paul Belmondo and Marlène Jobert (2.8 million) d’entrées), Le sauvage in 1975 with Yves Montand and Catherine Deneuve (2.3 million), Tout feu, tout flamme in 1981 with Isabelle Adjani and Yves Montand (2.2 million) and his biggest hit, Cyrano de Bergerac in 1990 starring Gérard Depardieu (4.7 million)s).

Bon Voyage was produced with a Euros23m budget and will be distributed onto 600 screens by ARP Sélection. Set in 1940, this complex tale of politics, industry, journalism, espionage and art was made over a 19-week period with a screenplay by Rappeneau, Patrick Modiano and Gilles Marchand (Harry,, un ami qui vous veut du bien).
ARP's associate producers on this project were Laurent and Michèle Pétin, Canal+ who contributed Euros4.5, France Télévisions came up with Euros3m (shared between France 2 and France 3) while Europa Corp made an upfront investment of Euros3.8m in return for the privilege of handling the film’s international sales.

Given the calibre of the cast, Bon Voyage is likely to become a huge box office success and there is talk that it could well be invited to Cannes.
