4 euros for admissions for children under 14

What were French cinema exhibitors going to do with the decrease in their VAT on ticket sales to 5.5% as of January 2014? The question was in the air and the FNCF (National Federation of French Cinemas) answered it today by announcing the start of a "unique 4 euro ticket in all theatres, every day and for all films” as of January 1, 2014.

As a reminder, the average price of a cinema ticket in France was 6.42 euros in 2012 and children under 14 represented 9.5% of the 203.44 million admissions sold last year. It should also be noted that this audience segment is nearly always accompanied by adults, which explains the new clearly family-focused pricing strategy that the FNCF will set up as of January 1.
