Advances for 3 popular directors

Kjell Sundvall, Anders Nilsson and Ella Lemhagen are three of the five directors who were awarded production subsidies by the from the Swedish Film Institute’s as part of its latest round of advance allocations.
Sundvall, the director of last year’s biggest local hit (The Guy in the Grave Next Door, was awarded Skr7.8m (Euros853,000) to make Hotet (The Threat), an action thriller starring Maria Bonnevie and Shanti Roney. The film went into production in March and is produced by Christer Abrahamsen for Cinema Art Productions.
Nilsson’s first English-language film, Den Tredje vågen (The Third Wave) received Skr7.5m (Euros820,000). Currently shooting in Trollättan, this follow-up to the Johan Falk police story saga is produced Sonet Film who are also handling the domestic distribution for both Sundvall and Nilsson’s films.
Ella Lemhagen, who directed the 2000 children’s hit, Tsatsiki, mum and the policeman was awarded Skr4.5m (Euros492,000) for Tur och retur (Return Journey). Produced by Charlotta Denward (FilmLance International), it is about Martin and Kicki, two 11-year-old children of divorced parents, whose lives change dramatically on the day they meet. Shooting will start next autumn with a Swedish release set for 25 December. Another feature film: Mongolpiparen, a romantic drama directed by Alexander Moberg and produced by Hans Iveberg (Mepo Film) was awarded Skr4.1m (Euros448,000) and a documentary about Swedish popstar Frieda’s early life in Cape Town, South Africa, entitled Little Stars that has just gone into production and is directed by Titti Johnsson was awarded Skr700,000 (Euros76,537). The film is produced by Helgi Felixson (who executive produced My Name is Sabina Spielrein [+see also:

) and is scheduled to premier at the next Göteborg Film Festival.
