Cosmodrama: a few hypotheses about modern cosmology
Actor Jackie Berroyer

Science-fiction is a genre rather rarely represented in French cinema. With Cosmodrama, his second feature after A Faint Trembling of the Landscape (notably presented on the ACID programme in Cannes in 2008 and in the Bright Future section in Rotterdam in 2009), Philippe Fernandez has decided to make a "science-fiction film without any special effects taking precedence over its meaning, without any fatal technical damage, without a traitor to be unmasked, an hysterical flight captain or any fascist enemies to be eliminated. If there is any drama at all, it is not that of good against evil, but that of knowledge confronted by its limits". The cast includes Jackie Berroyer (Cherchez Hortense [+see also:

Written by the director, the screenplay is set in a spaceship launched into the universe. Seven members of the crew awaken from cryogenization. They are suffering from amnesia and don't know where they are, where they came from or where they're going. Formulated on the basis of their observations, each new hypothesis seems more nonsensical than the last, leading to a growing uneasiness, while events begin to unfold: invasion of the spaceship by a colony of glowing entities, the discovery of a frozen extra-terrestrial being, the appearance on their screens of a woman making mysterious remarks, and a strange split personality disorder that affects the protagonists...

Produced by Atopic (Christophe Gougeon, Antoine Segovia and Fabrizio Polpettini), Cosmodrama is co-produced by Michigan Films of Belgium (Olivier Burlet and Sébastien Andres), and benefits from an advance on receipts from the CNC, among others. Launched in October, the nine weeks of filming taking place entirely in France (especially in the Studios de l'Océan in La Rochelle) will end in January. The 17 weeks of post-production will take place in Belgium. Distribution in French theatres will be handled by Shellac and international sales by Wide Management.

As a reminder, Atopic notably produced Now Showing (Directors' Fortnight, 2008) and Independencia [+see also:
