- Six films - including Kaveh Bakhtiari's hit Stop-Over and Alain Gsponer's Akte Grüninger - vie for the Soleure Prize 2014 at the long-standing Swiss festival

Thirty five films will be premiered at the 49th Journées de Soleure. The programme for the festival's new edition includes more than 200 Swiss productions, from every linguistic region. The festival is dedicated every year to celebrating Swiss cinema, and will take place from January 23 to 30, 2014.

 Six films have been selected to vie for the Soleure Prize 2014. One of them is Iranian-born, Switzerland-based Kaveh Bakhtiari's Stop-Over [+see also:

, presented as a Swiss premiere, which continues its successful career after being premiered at Cannes' Directors Fortnight, going on to gather a nomination for Best Documentary at the recent European Film Awards (news).  - will have their world premieres at the event, as well as the opening film, Alain Gsponer's Akte Grüninger - Die Geschichte eines Grenzgängers, which will screen on a ceremony introduced by Federal Councillor Alain Berset.

The jury members, who will decide which film will take home the Soleure Prize, are actor Lukas Bärfuss, filmmaker and scriptwriter Güzin Kan, UN Human Rights Council Advisory Committee vice-president Jean Ziegler and Belgian filmmaker Chantal Akerman, who will also present her latest film, La folie Amayer [+see also:

Mohammed Soudani's Oro Verde and Olivier Paulus and Stefan Hillebrand's Vielen Dank für Nichts can be found among the selection.

The festival features as well the Panorama Suisse section, including a total of 179 films, the new night programme and the special Focus, which will include workshops, panels and round tables, this year in the presence of acclaimed Bosnian filmmaker Jasmila Zbanic.
