15/01/2014 - Wes Anderson, Alain Resnais and Claudia Llosa were joined by Feo Aladag, Hans Petter Moland, Richard Linklater and Rachid Bouchareb

After the traditional announcement of the first titles of the Berlin competition before the Christmas holidays (that is six films, all of them produced or coproduced in Europe – read the article), fourteen new contenders for the Bears were added to the list, which is now complete. Amongst them, a good number of German films stand out (including the new film by Feo Aladag, praised for When We Leave [+see also:

film profile], LUX Prize 2010) as well as Asian titles and the latest feature by Norwegian director Hans Petter Moland (already in competition in Berlin in 2010 with the excellent A Somewhat Gentle Man [+see also:

All in all, the 20 selected movies represent 20 countries, from Algeria (with the new film by Rachid Bouchareb) to Uruguay, going through Japan, the United States (with Boyhood by Richard Linklater) and twelve European countries.
