24/01/2014 - The director of The Reverse will film in spring an adaptation of a detective novel which became a best-seller

film profile], which convinced the critics and audiences and represented Poland in the race for the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, Borys Lankosz is preparing his new opus: A Grain of Truth (Ziarno prawdy). The film, announced as "the first true thriller in Polish cinema”, will be an adaptation of the detective novel and best-seller by the same name by Polish author Zygmunt Miloszewski.

A Grain of Truth, which follows in the footsteps of the novel Entanglement, follows the mishaps of prosecutor Teodor Szacki who this times leaves Warsaw to go to Sandomierz, a picturesque village near the Vistula river, where he wants to start over. But he finds himself dragged into an enigmatic murder investigation, and, instead of looking for peace and quiet, he decides to solve the case.

The director and novelist handled the screenplay, which promises to be a huge success since Borys Lankosz’s second film is highly anticipated and Zygmunt Miloszewski is hugely popular having notably won in 2007 and 2011 the High Calibre Prize for the Best Polish Crime Novel of the Year for his two novels dedicated to the adventures of prosecutor Szacki.

Produced by Blankfilm Production for a budget of 1.5 M€ (including half from the Polish Film Institute), A Grain of Truth will be filmed in early spring.

Boris Lankosz also recently unveiled his plans for the upcoming years and he wants to tackle another library success: Dark, Almost Night by Joanna Bator. The rights for this novel, which won the most prestigious Polish literary prize (NIKE 2013) were already acquired by the production company Aurum Films.
