EFM: Sophie Rois and Christopher Buchholz become Knights of Honour
- Tele München chairman Herbert Kloiber, who acquired several French films at the EFM, will also be honoured as a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters
On the occasion of the 64th Berlin International Film Festival, the French Ambassador to Germany, Maurice Gourdault-Montagne, has awarded Knighthoods of the Order of Arts and Letters to the actors Sophie Rois and Christopher Buchholz for their commitment to German-French culture.
“We are delighted that French movies have such a major significance at the Berlinale,” said the ambassador at the evening honouring French cinema in the French Embassy. In total, there are 34 French films and co-productions at the festival, among them five competition entries. Prominent French guests at the Berlinale include Alain Resnais, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Catherine Deneuve and Michel Gondry.
“I have not been aware of my merits,” stated Rois, “but I will try to be a knight in shining armour.” Christopher Buchholz, who has been the head of the French Film Days in Tübingen since 2010, emphasised his strong acquaintance with French culture.
After the Berlinale, Austrian Herbert Kloiber, chairman of the Tele München Group in Germany, will be honoured with the Knighthood of the Legion of Honour, which he will receive in Vienna. At the European Film Market, Tele-München acquired Suffragette from Pathé, starring Carey Mulligan, as well as La Famille Bélier, by Eric Lartigau (The Big Picture [+see also:

film profile]). Meanwhile, the group also bought Rose Bosch’s family comedy-drama A Summer in Provence, starring Jean Reno, from Gaumont.
