Brussels’ Cinematek in Flagey will welcome the renowned screenwriter and filmmaker Cédric Klapisch on Tuesday 18 March, to deliver a masterclass and a Q&A on his recently completed Auberge espagnole trilogy, as well as his career path and the filmmaking process in Europe.

Ahead of the European elections and given the ingrained international theme of the trilogy, the issue of Europe both from a citizen’s point of view and in terms of its contribution to European filmmaking will surely come up at some point. This is why the event, organised by the Society of Audiovisual Authors and Europa Distribution, is also supported by the LUX Prize.

Klapisch’s relevance as a filmmaker is directly related to his trilogy of films Pot Luck (L'Auberge espagnole), Russian Dolls [+see also:

and Chinese Puzzle [+see also:

, which go through the intertwining lives of a group of young men and women from all over Europe, from their first meeting during an Erasmus exchange in Barcelona, through to adulthood, over ten years later. Klapisch managed to translate the European cohabitation issues into the laughs, the loves and the fears of a bunch of young Europeans. The event is also supported by the French Embassy and will be moderated by Cineuropa Editor in Chief Domenico La Porta.
