The Real Thing becomes Cowboys and Angels

by

The Irish/German/UK co-production, The Real Thing has changed its name to Cowboys & Angels, following test screenings suggesting that the new title would be more appealing to a younger and wider audience.
Cowboys & Angels is a more appealing title for a wider audience and the preference for my co-producers, our funding partners and our test audiences,” said the German-born producer, Nathalie Lichtenthaeler.
The film, which explores the difficulties for young people in maintaining their identities in a fast-moving culture of drugs and clubs, was written and directed by newcomer David Gleeson. The Euros1.5m film is currently in post-production and stars Michael Legge (Angela’s Ashes) and Alan Leech, and is a co-production between Ireland’s Wide Eye Films, Germany’s Peter Stockhaus Filmproduktion and UK’s Grosvenor Park. Ireland’sJames Flynn (Octagon Films) who produced Nora and co-produced Angela’s Ashes will executive-produce this new project. Other funding partners include the Irish Film Board, the Hamburg Film Fund, and international sales are handled by Media Luna Entertainment .
