LUFF rebrands as London Screenings, returns in June
The London UK Film Focus is rebranding as London Screenings

Film London, in association with the British Film Institute, is launching the newly named London Screenings, which will take place from 23-26 June. This will be the 11th edition of the event formerly known as London UK Film Focus (LUFF), which promotes British talent, films and companies to the international marketplace. Around 120 film buyers representing all world territories and programmers from a number of international film festivals are expected to attend and view 50 titles. The 2013 event generated more than $8 million in sales.

London Screenings includes the “Breakthrough” strand, which is now open for applications. Breakthrough provides a platform for emerging British filmmakers seeking sales representation, and an opportunity for international buyers to look at upcoming UK talent. Filmmakers interested in applying for Breakthrough must have a recently completed feature-length project of theatrical quality ready for June 2014, with a predominantly British content, cast or production team. The deadline for submissions is 24 April.

Adrian Wootton, chief executive of Film London and the British Film Commission, said, “We are home to some extraordinary filmmaking talent in the UK, and we want to make sure that those films and filmmakers have the best possible support and structure to reach as wide an international audience as possible. Adapting with the changes to the industry, we will continue to refine the event so it delivers for our UK filmmakers, our emerging talent and, of course, our sales companies.”

London Screenings will also include a few British films represented by foreign sales agents and non-British films from UK sales agents.
