04/04/2014 - Additional 11 IMAX theatres to be added in the UK, Central Europe and Israel

The Cineworld Group that operates under the brands of Cineworld, Picturehouse, Cinema City, and Yes Planet, and is one of the largest cinema chains in Europe, has expanded its partnership with the IMAX Corporation for an additional 11 IMAX theatres. Cineworld will add eight IMAX theatres to UK multiplexes and three more to its Cinema City circuit in Central Europe and Israel. With 35 IMAX theatres following this agreement, Cineworld is now the large screen format company’s biggest partner in Europe. Describing the company’s momentum in Europe, IMAX CEO Richard L. Gelfond said “business activity has picked up dramatically in the last few years.”
