Vologda’s VOICES Festival 2014 open for submissions

For the fifth year in a row, the Russian city of Vologda is getting ready to host the VOICES (Vologda Independent Cinema from European Screens) Festival. The festival, entirely dedicated to the young and emerging filmmakers of European cinema, will take place from 4-8 July – and films can be submitted until 1 May.

The 2014 edition will feature a focus on British cinema, in the framework of the United Kingdom–Russia Year of Culture. Festivalgoers will have the opportunity to see an interesting programme of British films, as well as to attend different masterclasses and round-tables with industry professionals (the full programme will be announced in May).

VOICES has become a unique meeting place for the youngest European filmmaking generation, gathering ten first or second films from all across Europe in its official competition section, and selecting a wide array of titles for the parallel sections (such as Europe Express, and the genre-film-dedicated Midnight Screening).
