Gianni Amelio on fathers and sons
- Le chiavi di casa, a father-&-son story, will be made on location in Berlin and Scandinavia and stars Kim Rossi Stuart and Charlotte Rampling
Berlin’s Charité Hospital is the chosen location for Italian director, Gianni Amelio’s (Il ladro di bambini, Così ridevano) new film entitled Le chiavi di casa. Amelio also wrote the screenplay with Sandro Petraglia and Stefano Rulli.
The film tells the story of a man’s (Kim Rossi Stuart) gradual acceptance of his handicapped son when the pair travel to Germany together. The third character is an older woman played by Charlotte Rampling.
Le chiavi di casa is produced by Rai Cinema, Achab and Jean Vigo, and co-produced by Germany’s Pandora Film and Arena Films.
"This film examines the affection and love that binds fathers and sons, " said Amelio’s longstanding producer, Enzo Porcelli who will work with Elda Ferri on this project.
After Berlin, the set will move to an as-yet unnamed location in Scandinavia and the film could well be ready for the 2004 editions of either Berlin or Cannes.
